Reconnecting with Alumni
One of the best things about my job has been reconnecting with Alumni. There are several people whom I run into frequently, ER Wolf and Jerome Rifkin come to mind. I ran into ER Wolf at both the New Tech Meetup in Boulder and the Denver Boulder Founders Meetup. These events occur at 6 PM on the first Tuesday and first Thursday of the month respectively. I finally met Aaron, our webmaster for this wonderful site, at the New Tech Meetup.
The Founders Meetup may be of interest to some of you. It’s a place where entrepreneurs can help build their start-up teams. Looking to join a team? Go see who needs help. Looking for help? Go pitch your company and idea and see who is interested. Both ER and Jerome pitched their companies last night.
While it is great to run into alumni around town, I suspect that many of us would not recognize each other on the street. I hope to fix that. Beth Polizzotto has been maintaining a database of every person who has ever taken a class at the Bard Center. Did you know that 1905 individuals have taken at least one class at the Bard Center since 1996? Of those, we were missing email addresses for 288. Yesterday, I sent a greeting to the remaining ~1600. About 600 email addresses have bounced back so far. So, if you did not get my email yesterday, please send me (catherine.kunst -at- cudenver.edu) your updated contact information.
Ten or fifteen of you have already sent me your stories and comments on the Bard Center. Thank you. You made my day. Please keep your stories and ideas coming. Our LinkedIn Group is growing. I hope that soon it will be a great place for you to reconnect with each other, faculty, current students and council members.
Reminders:
Business Plan Competition Applications are due March 13 - this will hold your spot so you can submit a full plan on May 1.
Networking Night at Marlowe’s - 6PM, March 13 - I hope to see you all there.
Other ways to connect:
I am constantly looking for other events, groups and venues that may be of help to you personally or professionally. If you have interest in bioscience, you might consider attending BioBeers, cofounded by a Bard Center Alum and Incubator Tenant. The next meeting is March 31 at the Milwaukee Street Tavern.
